Homemade gelato, packed with crushed Oreo cookies on a hot summers day, sounds like you doesn’t it? So simple, no fuss, whipped up in a jiffy and no ice cream maker required. You have to try it.
1 x 395 gram tin lite sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
200g Oreo cookies
Place the cream, condensed milk and vanilla essence in a large bowl, use a handheld electric mixer on the highest setting and to whisk until you have soft peaks.
Place the cookies into a zip lock bag, wrap in a tea towel and give then a good going over with a rolling pin until you have small crumbs. Tip the smashed cookies into the cream mixture, fold until fully incorporated.
Place in a freezer-proof container with a lid and freeze for 5-6 hours, or overnight.
To serve: Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving. Scoop into waffle cones and devour.
